There are many things in life that fit together perfectly, for example, peanut butter and jelly, bacon on everything, sweet and sour chicken, and a furniture store with a ropes course (or is that last one only me?). Jordan's Furniture in New Haven, Connecticut is home to the world's largest indoor ropes course. Stepping into the massive space I immediately realized that whomever thought of this concept was brilliant. Although I do not have kids of my own, I would imagine that as a parent dragging your kids furniture shopping is about as pleasant as jumping off a 50 foot ledge (which conveniently you can also do at Jordan's but in the safety of a harness). Here you can both buy a lovely leather couch, which we did immediately after the course, or fly over "liquid fireworks" (water fountain show) on a zip-line.
Before you go to IT Adventure Ropes Course, which is located inside of Jordan's Furniture, you must know one thing; if you're going on a weekend the lines are tremendous so you should arrive right when they are open to avoid waiting for hours in line. The great aspect of the course is that anyone can do it. There are four levels from highest to lowest so bringing young kids is not a problem as they can stay on the lower level or even play only on the kids section. The course has four zip-lines, called "sky rails", one of which fly's directly over the fountains. I got sprayed and if you're lucky (or not so lucky?) you might too.
In a unexpected twist, Warren Buffet was a big investor in Jordan's because of their innovative concept of making furniture shopping fun. Did the investment pay off? Well, I can only imagine so as they are packed everyday. You might also notice the "thrilling" atmosphere at the course that was designed by none other than the same people that designed Michael Jackson's world tours.
Did we have fun? Yes. Would we go again? 100%.
