visit the ny botanical garden for this unique holiday celebration
holiday train show | running thru jan. 14
Enchanting model trains zipped below and above us as we sipped on our toasty mulled wine and bopped around to the holiday music. This was the NY Botanical Garden’s holiday train show, a spectacle that has been running for over twenty years. Here you can view over 150 landmarks, each re-created with bark, leaves, and other natural materials—all under the twinkling glow of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. The train show gives guests an exciting opportunity to marvel over G-scale locomotives humming along among familiar sights. As we walked through the enchanting greenhouse we saw sights such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and Rockefeller Center on nearly a half-mile of track.
Holiday decor had wondrously transformed the cosy greenhouse into a Santa’s village. Although the train show is great for kids, adults 21 and over can enjoy an even more magical experience on select days throughout this festive season. During these 21+ evenings, the Train Show turns into Bar Car nights. A wonderful opportunity to walk the snowy (if you’re lucky) grounds, experience the train show display and sip on cocktails. With our mulled wine in hand we journeyed through a series of station stops, ice carving, live music and pop-up acts featuring some of NYC’s favorite street performers.
Enjoy live entertainment as you experience the holidays at the beautiful New York Botanical Garden and see one of a kind acts in a charming setting. This is great for family, friends or date night. Happy holidays! Get tickets before it’s too late, bar car nights run through January 14. For more information visit nybg.org.
