Cyprus’s Red Lake

April 28, 2019 | Stefanie DiMartino

Update: I have removed the video from YouTube because I believe that we need to focus our attention on the victims of this tragic crime and not my video. This video has been used by the media to sensationalize this crime, and that is not okay. Let us instead remember those that were lost, and mourn for their families.

I do not give permission for any screen grabs of the video to be posted or used by the media.

Recently there has been news that a murderer dumped bodies in Cyprus’s Red Lake. Read more about that story here. This is terrible and I am devastated for the victims families.

I visited the red lake in June 2017 and filmed a video about our experience there. It felt eerie there but I did not see anything completely out of the norm.

Since the news broke, a lot of people have been contacting me and asking if I have more information. All I can share with you are the photos I have not posted. One of the photos does look suspiciously like a suitcase, but at the time it looked like a log to me.

Though my heart goes out to the victims family, I would ask that people please stop contacting me about this. I don’t have any other information about the lake. This is all of the information I have, and I hope it helps.

If any of these photos are used in the media please link to this blog post and write “Credit: Sarah Funk”.
