please  join  us for
our second season of this
smaller, more intimate soirée.
inspired by and named after the film
shanghai express, about a colorful cast of
characters traveling from peking to shanghai.
each party takes place at a different express stop
along the imagined route of that train.  join us,
as our adventure continues south of the
border, to a meeting place for artists,
intellectuals, revolutionaries,
and movie stars. mexico
city, circa 1929.


 

 

WHAT:
a festive evening of
dancing, mexican son jarocho
music, burlesque, exquisite cocktails,
and intriguingly glamorous fellow
guests. we'll dance, drink, and
plot how to save
the world.


WHEN:
8pm to 1am.
tues., january 31st,
1929.

 


WHERE:
this month, the
shanghai express train
will be pulling into the vibrant,
revolutionary, and elegant
mexico city.

 


PERFORMANCE:
dance all night
to the wonderful band
RADIO JAROCHO, featuring
the dancer JULIA DEL PALACIO,
and with burlesque performances
by DAME CUCHIFRITA.


  

 

BAR & FOOD:
there will be exceedingly
delicious cocktails and beautiful
small plates available all evening.
our lovely cigarette girl will have
cloves, cigarettes, popcorn,
and chocolate.

 


ATTIRE/GUESTS:
very dressy vintage,
1920s/'30s, cocktail attire,
dapper suits, gowns, top hats,
feathers, traditional mexican dress,
or however  you might  have dressed
for an elegantly decadent evening in a
clandestine club in mexico city in 1929.
your fellow guests might just include
frida kahlo, diego rivera, man ray,
photographer tina modotti, film
star delores del rio, artist rosa
rolando and leon trotsky.
no casual attire* . . .

TICKETS:
advance tickets
are $20, and there will be
$25 tickets at the door {cash
only}, dependent upon
capacity.

tickets are non-refundable, no exceptions.


 


 


TABLES:
there will be
an option to purchase a
reserved table when buying
tickets. there are quite a few tables
at this venue, but some guests
like to make sure they
have a table close
to the stage.
