MAKE YOUR WINTER MEMORABLE
After the holidays sometimes it seems that the winter lasts forever! One fun way to have the winter roll by is throwing a dinner party! What's better than delicious food, friends, and some lovely drinks? Not much!
Party prep doesn't have to be as time consuming as you think. By carefully choosing the food you cook it can become a simple experience. We made roast chicken, bacon infused broccoli, and basmati rice. Then each guest brought their own dish so we had more than enough to feed our party of 12!
Cooking a whole chicken is much faster when it is cut in half first. We marinated our chicken with butter, rosemary, minced garlic and paprika. Be sure to get the marinade under the skin to ensure the flavors penetrate into the meat, then cook for three hours. Our chicken was juicy, with a delicious buttery herb flavor. You could really taste the garlic rosemary in every bite.
A fun way to spice up the party is to create simple theme. I've known friends to do a mustache theme where they had little mustaches on sticks that they could hold up in photos. However, we chose to do a masquerade themed party! Purchasing the masks was really inexpensive and you can buy packs on Amazon. It made the night elusive and enticing.
SHOW WINTER WHO IS BOSS
The snow was falling and we needed a place to store all our drinks so we made a drink igloo! Hand packed with 100% snow.
The party was a hit and we had some incredible dishes show up. One unique dish was the Fish Goujon that came with two unique sauces, a cilantro mayo sauce and a soy ginger sauce with chives. The dish really brought a one of a kind mix of French, Asian and Mexican flavors.
Bacon infused broccoli was naturally a hit, as anything with bacon in it has that smokey, delicious flavor that everyone loves. The best part about this dish was that roasting the broccoli and bacon together made the broccoli taste like bacon. It's the perfect way to make a non-vegetable lover suddenly crave vegetables!
To top it off we had some delicious vanilla cupcakes. I wanted them all! (And may have had 3? hehe)
THEMED PHOTO BOOTH
The best way to make your dinner party memorable is to have a photo booth. We set one up to emphasize the main event, eating delicious food! This is really simple, all you need is a plain wall with a simple decoration on it, and great lighting (the brighter the better). We choose the spoon and fork, however, in the past I have used a chalk board and then had guests write a custom caption. For example, for my NYE party, all guests wrote their New Years Resolution. It is a fun and unique way to remember the night!
